Subject: Heritage office — I need your support

Hi,

I want to flag something before Friday.

The heritage office rejected my revised structural proposal this morning. That's the third rejection. Each time I redesign to meet their demands, they move the goalposts. The latest objection is about the window frames in the east wing — they now want original materials restored, not replicated. Do you know what original 1920s steel window frames cost? I got a quote: 42,000 EUR for the east wing windows alone.

I've designed a compromise approach (the one I presented in today's meeting — 95K). It works structurally and it satisfies most of their conditions. But I need the PM and the sponsor to back me on this, because if they reject it again, I don't have a fourth option.

I also want to be transparent: a journalist from El Periódico Meridian contacted me last week about the project. I haven't said anything yet, but I'm considering writing an opinion piece about how heritage preservation bureaucracy is killing good architecture in this city. The project wouldn't be named directly, but people would connect the dots. I think public pressure might actually help move things forward.

I'd rather not do that. But I need to see some progress.
