Subject: A few things — quick update

Hi,

Hope your first week went well. A few things on my end:

1. The Mayor has been talking about doing a soft opening event in October — something visible before the municipal budget debate in November. Nothing confirmed, but keep it in mind when you build the schedule. It would be good to have at least the event hall and the main entrance ready by then, even if the rest is still in progress.

2. I spoke with Deputy Mayor Ferrer over the weekend about the heritage situation. He thinks the conservation office is being overly rigid and he's going to have a word with them. I wouldn't worry too much about that front — I think it will sort itself out in the coming weeks.

3. The library stays in scope. Non-negotiable. The Mayor was very clear on this after what happened with Meridian Roots in 2023. Whatever budget pressure you're facing, find savings elsewhere.

4. Councilor Martín called me about the event hall acoustics. He wants professional-grade sound treatment, not just "adequate." He says the hall is useless for concerts without it. I told him you'd look into what that costs. Can you get me a number?
